I recently purchased what I expected would be an acceptable katana for kata practice and forms development. I was exceptionally surprised by the quality that I recieved with this katana. It is well made, beautiful, and strong. I was not looking for a katana that sliced thru bottles or anything else such as katame rolls or bottles, but this little beast came thru all of it, When practicing it looks amazing, swings with power and grace, and makes me look practiced and polished. One concern that others have made here is the overall hefty weight of this katana. Yes, it IS a bit on the heavy side, but since most of my practice is done with a Subarito rather than a standard bokken, the wieght is both managable and comfortable for my use. Using the subarito is a distinct advantage is acclimating to a wieghtier katana. No speed is sacrificed by the wieght, and the heft seems to provide even more power to my swing.

Really solid sword for the price

Can’t say anything bad about this sword. I didn’t take it apart yet but the blade seems full tang and spring steel, it’s very sharp but not smoothly...More
Can’t say anything bad about this sword. I didn’t take it apart yet but the blade seems full tang and spring steel, it’s very sharp but not smoothly sharp little choppy but it’s 70$. Fittings are to be expected that gold mall looking stuff . And the tsuka has fake ray skin and it’s not even wrapped all the way around, just two strips . The wrap is kinda slick but it does have a very thing profile which is nice for grip. Scabbard is actually really cool looking and well fitted. I don’t like the kanji characters on there since it could say dumb American thinks he samurai or whatever and I wouldn’t know . Sword makers no one wants junk on the blade except the maker marks on the hilt part that’s covered . Also no one wants these dumb dragon super mall ornate decorations , people want plane since the cheesier you make it look the cheesier it likely will be . But not a bad deal for price and there is a blood ridge on it which is nice but no hamon( modern sword making doesn’t require one though as it doesn’t add to anything but looks of the blade in this day in age . )if in doubt buy it you’ll probably like it or just spend 40$ more and get something from a well known forge.

This sword is good for an intermediate or higher level swordsman since it's very sharp and solid. Newer practitioners would have trouble with the weight, and probably shouldn't be practicing with live blades anyhow, so it's not recommended for beginners. I'm pretty sure that between the weight and sharpness I can cut through a car with this one. I might.

I was surprised at how solid this sword is. When I shook it, there was no play in the handle. It came with some grease on the blade and a plastic covering over that. When I cleaned the grease off, I found the blade to be razor sharp! It's a great looking sword and it even came with a small wooden sword stand. I will probably cut through some water jugs and a tatami mat to test it out. It was made in China. I didn't see that when I read the description but I should have known better. It definitely is not a toy. It is a great display piece and is functional, though I am not going to torture test it and find-out what it's limitations are.

This is a very nice, quality, heavy sword. I purchased a blue one, a black legend one, and purple 3 and they are beautiful and well made. We are so happy with it. But I am returned the Yellow sword. I also purchased the Yellow sword but it is not as advertised so I am deeply disappointed with it. The Yellow sword has a silver blade instead of a dark or black blade as advertised in the images on the product. There's nothing wrong with the quality of the yellow sword, but the design is bland and ordinary. The Black Legend sword is beautiful and strong. If you have a problem with it, its due to mishandling it. The Blue 3 we purchased is more attractive in person than ot is in the pictures. The Purple one i purchased is VERY feminine so I am keeping that one for myself. I ordered the one with the all purple sheath.

It came 'sharp-ish', probably what I would call a working edge for a sword? I admit, first sword.

It feels great in hand, the sheath closes tight on it... part of me wants to really go wail on some things with it to see how it holds up, but I just don't have the heart to damage it. I may sharpen it a little more, though...

This is not a toy, but it is beautiful. The blade arrived very sharp, and the pattern from the clay hardening is easily visible. Mine is not etched, so the Damascus pattern is not visible, but the blade is very good looking. It has a fuller on both sides, the guard is ornate and beautiful. The traditional wrapped handle is comfortable, and is long enough tor two handed use if you prefer. The scabbard is well made and as beautiful as befits a sword of this caliber. This is a magnificent sword.

The katana rattle a bit when in the saya or scabbard. The blade does come razor sharp so to take caution. The handle is very nicely wrapped. I love this sword! It's great! It is really sharp but when you use it a few times it gets dull pretty quick. But i got a stone to sharpen it so no biggie. It is not bent it is forged well has a comfortable grip and is light. I love it! And im glad it came with a wooden sheath. Everything was made well i just think it needs to be sharpened better. If you buy this swor make sure to get a stone to sharpen it thats just my recommendation. But overall this sword is great!

You pay for what you get!

Came in good condition.
Feels like a Zanpakutō
Hotaru Haganezuka didn’t make it buuuuut…
You can sharpen it yourself don’t be lazy.
Excellent work.

Very sturdy, and capable of being exceptionally sharp.

While it might not hold up toe to toe with one of those multi fold katanas made by a Japanese master Smith, it would look cool as hell as a display piece, and would certainly do some damage to someone sneaking in your window.

It's simple, sharp, strong katana. Nothing amazing, obviously not handmade quality but this is a good choice for someone who is wishing to learn more about katanas, or wants to learn how to manage, clean, sharpen a sword with stone set etc.
Good Practice sword, and good option for nice display.

Very nice sword, package very securely. Looks great, but the saya is easy to damage. I went to get it off my display and a piece of the paint came off. Luckily this is just for display and the sageo covers it so not to big of a deal. Still worth what I paid for it.

Nice craftsmanship. Well balanced. Sharp. worth every penny.
I wasn't sure what to expect for $100, but was excited to find that that quality of this sword is excellent.
the Tsuba is little small, but not a big deal since you don't need a large Tsuba unless you're in a real blade fight. The Tsuka (grip) is very nice, as far as I can tell, real ray skin (could be synthetic - I'm not an expert on ray skin). The Tsaka is wrapped in a quality feeling leather. I could go on about each component, but just take my word for it, it's great deal. Scabbard is very nice, and it's sharp. 'nuff said.

The quality of this blade is absolutely outstanding for the price! It is a little heavy which is a good thing because I can tell it is strong. It feels like it has full tang. The blade isn't as sharp as the video which I expected but it can definitely cut skin. The black blade looks absolutely amazing and I would recommend. I'm writing a review because I took a long time before purchasing a katana and I want to help someone who is looking to purchase one on a low budget. I'm using it as a display and it is a 10/10 for that.
